STAR (Short-Term Adult Recovery)
 
For patients Bradford Recovery Systems’ Short-Term Adult Recovery (STAR) Program is an acute partial hospitalization program which is part of the continuing growth of programs being offered in psychiatric care at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
This unique program is designed to treat and stabilize individuals with acute mental illnesses before their behavioral consequences become severe and unmanageable. This intensive day treatment provides individuals who no longer need or require inpatient hospitalization with a cost-effective and time-efficient program. Our goal is to assist each individual in achieving optimum involvement in their community.
Hours of Operation 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday
Program Components We offer three to six hours per day of structured group therapy; individual, group, and family therapy; psychiatric monitoring by attending psychiatrist; medication evaluation; psychological testing; and coordination of aftercare services.
Group Topics - Psychoeducation - Symptom recognition - Stress management - Drug & alcohol education - Communication skills including assertiveness training - Problem solving - Relaxation training - Therapeutic wellness activities including: cooking, budgeting, personal hygiene, and community resources - Men’s and women’s issues - Art and music therapy - Therapeutic humor - Leisure skills
Length of Stay Variable length of stay according to each individuals need(s)
Program goals: Through STAR, it is our intent to assist clients - To learn a variety of tools and skills to cope with current life situations and better manage future life stressors - To participate voluntarily and set their own treatment goals - To resolve or improve their quality of life through highly structured, client-centered treatment - To work on target activities and practice skills both alone and in small groups - To gain an increases awareness of their ability to play an active role in their own health and well-being - By providing structure that can be used in their everyday living environment - In developing skills to modify and change behaviors and thought patterns in order to gain greater flexibility, freedom, and choice in their life.
