Pennsylvania WIC Program Establishes New Income Eligibility Standards

Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) today announced new income guidelines for participants in Pennsylvania’s Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program. The guidelines, which were established by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH), are effective July 1, 2011.

 

The new income eligibility standards are required for certifying all new applicants, as well as recertifying current participants at the time of their next certification on or after July 1, 2011. The new guidelines are as follows:

Since 1974, the WIC Program has proven effective in preventing and improving nutrition-related health problems for women, infants and children by providing healthy supplemental foods and nutrition services. WIC receives federal funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and is administered by the WIC Division of Pennsylvania DOH’s Bureau of Family Health.

 

Bradford Hospital WIC, which is staffed by employees of Bradford Regional Medical Center, is located on 125 Main Street in the Hooker Fulton Building, Suite 302 in Bradford. The program services all McKean County residents, and provides support for breast feeding, nutrition counseling, and other relevant information for families at various health fairs and events.
