Bradford Regional Medical Center honored its nursing staff May 8 in conjunction with the hospital’s National Nurses’ Week activities.

The first annual awards ceremony honored a Nurse of Distinction, Outstanding Staff Nurse, Outstanding LPN and Outstanding Nurse Assistant/Technician.

The hospital presented its Nurse of Distinction Award to Cheryl Wier, RN. Delores Cole, RN, received the Outstanding Staff Nurse Award, Julia Jackson, LPN, was named Outstanding LPN, and Kassi Haven, nurse assistant, was selected as Outstanding Nurse Assistant/Technician.

Wier was also nominated for the Western New York Professional Nurses Association Nurse of Distinction Award. Along with nurses from all Kaleida Health facilities, she was recognized in the May 5 edition of the Buffalo News and will be recognized at a dinner in Buffalo in June.

“We congratulate Cheryl, Delores, Julia, and Kassi for their outstanding performance,” said Timothy J. Finan, president and chief executive officer, Upper Allegheny Health System and BRMC. “These nurses each demonstrate exemplary leadership, compassion, and dedication. We thank them, and all of our nurses, for helping our hospital fulfill its mission of providing excellent care to those we serve.”

“This event is a great addition to our Nurses’ Week events where we take the opportunity to celebrate the contributions our nurses make every day. I’m very proud of our nurses’ professionalism and commitment to providing the very best care each and every day to our patients,” said Paula Platko, director of nursing, BRMC.
