BRMC presents nursing scholarships

Posted on: 05/11/2017

Bradford Regional Medical Center awarded scholarships during a luncheon May 10 at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

The Bradford Hospital Foundation and BRMC Auxiliary presented scholarships to Kimberly Howard and Nicole Snow, both of Port Allegany.

Howard received the Doris Winship Newton Scholarship and is pursuing a master’s degree in nursing education at Mansfield University. She is a nursing instructor at BOCES in Olean, NY, where she has taught for more than 20 years.

Snow was presented the Benjamin O. and Blanche M. Wentworth Endowed Nurse Scholarship. She is a first-year nursing student at Jamestown Community College’s Cattaraugus County Campus. Snow is an LPN studying to become an RN and would like to work in labor and delivery or wound care.

“We are honored to remember our Bradford Hospital School of Nursing and the 600 RNs who graduated over its 60 year existence. Both of our scholarships are given in memory of its alumni, Doris Newton in 1938 and Blanche Wentworth in 1945,” said Francie Ambuske, executive director, Bradford Hospital Foundation.
