Posted on: 08/25/2017

The Bradford Regional Medical Center School of Radiography held its graduation ceremony Aug. 24 at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

The graduates were, pictured, from left, Allison Lindquist, Allegany, NY; James Moore, Rockville, Md.; Rachael Dieter, Friendship, NY; Samantha Mellin, Shinglehouse; Haley Dibble, Cuba, NY; Jonnie Mascho, Bradford; and Kari Alabaugh, Kane.

Jeanne Capra, MHA, RT, program director, BRMC School of Radiography, served as master of ceremonies and Steven Dietrich, RT, radiographer, BRMC imaging services, and School of Radiography alumnus, offered remarks to the graduates.

“As a 1984 graduate of the school, I have had the privilege to work with many classes over the years. The class of 2017 has been excellent, both clinically and academically,” Capra said.

“Since joining the program, these seven students have faced many challenges related to several technological advances. Now, as graduates, I can say without hesitation that they are more than prepared to succeed in any health care environment.”

Also, during the ceremony, students received scholarships from the Bradford Hospital Auxiliary which were presented by Holly Spittler, Ph.D, associate dean of student affairs, UPB. Those receiving scholarships were Ryan Davis, First Year Student Academic Excellence Award; Jonnie Mascho, Janet Butler New Professional Scholarship Award; and Allison Lindquist, Clinical Excellence Award.

The School of Radiography, part of the Imaging Services Department at BRMC, is a 24-month program providing didactic and clinical instruction. More than 800 hours of a student’s time is spent in the classroom, and an additional 2,300 hours of clinical education is provided through the program.

Students graduating from the program have earned a bachelor’s degree in radiological science at UPB and are eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification exam.
