David Prince receives state award

David Prince received the Healthcare Trustees of New York State’s 2018 Trustee Leadership and Advocacy Award during its annual conference Sept. 15 in Saratoga Springs.

Prince, an Upper Allegheny Health System board member since 2003, was recognized for his commitment and leadership, including his time as board chairman at Olean General Hospital when Bradford Regional Medical Center and OGH became members of parent company Upper Allegheny Health System in 2009. Prince served as the first UAHS board chairman, providing leadership, continuity and stability. Most recently, he served as a member of the UAHS task force, guiding the recent affiliation with Kaleida Health and further strengthening the future of healthcare in the region.

During his tenure on the board, he chaired the investment, planning and governance committees. Committed to board education and adopting governance best practices, he initiated an annual board assessment process. He also served as a HTNYS board member for nine years.

Prince is president and chief executive officer at Databranch, Inc. He has provided board leadership for several community organizations including as past chairman of the Greater Olean Chamber of Commerce board of directors and member of numerous other community and civic boards, including the Olean Rotary and YMCA.

HTNYS created the Trustee Leadership and Advocacy Award in 1985 to recognize trustees who bring extraordinary leadership and dedication to their governance role. The award is presented to trustees whose skills, commitment, and effective decision-making have a profound impact in their boardroom. The award honors trustees for taking a lead role in positioning their organizations to meet the challenges of the evolving healthcare environment. It also recognizes trustees for their outstanding contributions to grassroots advocacy efforts for their hospital or healthcare system.
