Diabetes prevention program to begin Jan. 9

Posted on: 12/28/2017

Bradford Regional Medical Center will hold a new diabetes prevention program starting Jan. 9.

The program will help those 18 and older who are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes, which is when blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not to the stage of a diabetes diagnoses. Risk factors include being overweight, 45 years of age or older, family history, physically inactive, history of gestational diabetes or giving birth to a baby over nine pounds.

Participants will learn ways to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes from trained lifestyle coaches, a registered dietician, and registered nurse who will use a CDC-approved curriculum and offer group support and cooking demonstrations.

A physician referral is not needed. To register, or for more information, call 362-8717 or email csimms@brmc.com.
