New BRMC café opens

Posted on: 09/27/2016

Bradford Regional Medical Center opened its new $591,000 café to employees, physicians and visitors September 26.

The soft opening was a prelude to an official grand opening of the new facility in October.

“We have all been anxiously awaiting the completion of our new café. This new cafeteria will provide hospital staff and visitors with a wonderful, comfortable, relaxing and attractive dining environment,” said Timothy J. Finan, president and CEO of BRMC and Upper Allegheny Health System. “This is truly an outstanding dining area. We know our staff and visitors will enjoy the new café,’ Finan said.

The hospital’s food service provider, Aramark, invested the funds for the new café and an additional $130,000 for a new dish room. The new café provides customers with a modern, attractive dining environment, amenities and state-of-the-art cooking equipment.

Some of the changes include an expanded dining room and complete facilities upgrade including the HVAC system and new LED energy efficient lighting. In addition to all new state-of-the-art, energy efficient cooking equipment, the renovations include the installation of a new wood stone pizza oven. The ceramic tile cladded unit not only provides additional cooking options for customers but also adds a dramatic ambiance with its exposed fire flame to enhance the customers experience while dining at BRMC.

The dish room will feature energy efficient upgrades including a brand new dish machine with an internal energy efficient booster heater for high temperature sanitization. Like the café, it also has upgrades such as a complete rework of the existing subfloor, a brand new acrylicon seamless poured floor and new stainless steel wall panels.

During construction, customers were served in temporary serving and seating areas and patient meals were unaffected.

“We look forward to the grand opening next month, which is now in the planning stages,” Finan said.
